How to Tell If Someone Is Still Active on TikTok
No green dot, no login — just their public trail. Reading posting patterns and engagement to tell if an account is alive, dormant or abandoned.
Whether it's an old friend, an ex, or a creator you're about to pay, sometimes the question is simple: is this account still alive? TikTok's activity status only shows for mutuals, but the public trail tells you plenty.
Read the public signals
- Last post date — the obvious one. Weeks of silence from a previously regular poster means something changed.
- Posting rhythm — compare gaps. Regular-then-silent looks different from always-sporadic.
- Recent comments they receive — active creators accumulate fresh comments; check the timestamps on the newest ones.
- Profile changes — a new avatar or bio edit on a quiet account means they're still logging in, just not posting.
Checking without showing up
